Why not just give Power Man a form-fitting yellow shirt instead of a loose one, and make his chain belt a solid steel band instead?
........
I think they did something like that once.
........
Really? I've never seen that.

I think this may be what he's referring to Wallace, it's better than some of the other things they've tried with him, but is still doesn't say "superhero" to me.

Thanks, Robert. That's definitely not what I meant at all. I was talking about a long-sleeved form fitting shirt and black pants with yellow boots like the ones worn by other superheroes. If his shirt must be short-sleeved, then something like Doc Samson's original uniform (with a fist instead of a lightning bolt) would be perfect.

Oh, and no bald head! There's nothing wrong with him having an afro. I don't even mind the headband. I can take it or leave it.

Some SuperHero costumes shouldn't be changed from their first appearance imo. Wolverine is a good exception though. I like Power Man's original costume. Iron Fist too!

Oddly, I find it more palatable when members of super-hero teams change costume rather than those who star in their own books. Brand recognition plays a part. Costume changes can also denote certain eras or changes in creative direction. Nothing says, "Now this team only fights vampires!" like a switch to black leather catsuits adorned with crucifixes and garlic grenades. That being said, when everyone is changing costumes all the time and no one looks the same for 5 consecutive issues, then things have gone off the rails. Why form any attachments to a character or a look that is going to be gone in 3 months anyway? The question to the artist becomes, "Did you come onto this book to draw this character, or does this character now exist just to show off whatever you feel like drawing this month?"

The question to the artist becomes, "Did you come onto this book to draw this character, or does this character now exist just to show off whatever you feel like drawing this month?"•• We are too often confronted, these days, with the artistic version of what I have long complained about in writers. Offered THE ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN GOODGUY, Writer A thinks "Hm... Can I tell good Captain Goodguy stories?" But writer B thinks "Hm, can I use Captain Goodguy to tell MY stories?"

And speaking of Gil Kane, he also designed Iron Fist's costume, which is also one of the greats. Christopher Priest mistakenly credited JB for creating the character, but that doesn't surprise me too much - since it does look very much like a John Byrne costume.•• Which makes it even odder that it took so long for me to figure out how to draw it! Look thru my issues, and notice how long it took for me to get the collar right. I guess I kept thinking "Deadman". *************** JB, what I enjoyed most about your IRON FIST run was seeing the evolution of your artistry, seeing you learn and fix your mistakes along the way.... especially with Danny's costume. -C!

My favorite JB costume are the twins, Aurora and Northstar. Simplicity and beauty on two gorgeous people.

While not an actual costume, JB's style for the Human Torch is my favorite for the character.
Aurora and Northstar are my favorite JB costumes.

One of my favorite design is the black F.F. suit. At the time it came out, it was so shocking (in a good way) yet so obvious : of course that the rigth direction. And Jen looks sooo sexy with it ! Edit : 1111.
