I labeled you a Kool-Aid drinker for stating an opinion that is at 100% variance with the facts, but is in perfect keeping with certain media propaganda. In response you've...said I'm not worth responding to...repeatedly...rather than attempting to justify your original statement. And called me some odd names (Jag? I'm a military lawyer?)

What from this exchange would possibly make me want to go and read more of your posts?

Just curious, what exactly have I called him, beyond turning the tables and repeating Monte's use of the word "impotent" here specifically?

***************************************

Here specifically?  I haven't gone through the entire thread to research your remarks.  However, I unfortunately, did peek at a social media site that contains some rather "interesting" comments and memes by you....

So while you may appear on here to be all "peaches & cream", you're not.

The point remains as I posted it.  Which you did not exactly disagree with either.

Well, per another active thread, I'm glad that we're holding each other to the same level of civil discourse that we hold our choice of news outlets. I think that if you're going to data-mine another member to play gotcha (which I believe was discouraged earlier), either provide a pertinent example or notch yourself as 'avoiding answering the question' just as you might accuse others of doing.

Apparently there was a potential deal in '04 for Assad to destroy all Syrian CW if all countries in the region (including Israel) would dimsantle their WMDs.

Michael, Kevin did not data mine. I did that and Kevin pointed out exactly what I have a problem with. John comes on here and acts one way, but in truth I have NEVER seen a more negative, out of bounds, political ax grinder in my life. I think what I did was crossing the line buy posting his stuff and have been told a rule on here, is not to post others twitter or facebook posts without their permission . But I don't think you can come on here and be two faced and not get called out for it.

He is commander in chief. If he had no power to close Gitmo why did he say he was going to close it ? He never said "I will close it if congress lets me." He stated it would be closed in a year. He should not make promises he can't keep.Oh yeah...Democrats ran congress back then. He could have gotten it done just on a party line vote. If I was him I would have gotten approval from congress then. You know when his party ran congress. The republicans had no power at that point. He got Obamacare passed despite anything the republicans did . Seems like if he could get that done he could close Gitmo.

Again, I already explained this, but I will post it again.

There are two types of majorities in govt. A simple majority and  A super majority .

The difference is, that a simple majority is not strong enough to force a bill though, it takes a super majority to do that, which the dems did not have.
A majority can mean two different things in our govt.

Obama did not have a super majority to get Gitmo closed.

Looks like Russia pulled Obama's bacon out of the fire at the last moment.

I appreciate a negotiated deal over a war. Perhaps the threat got this done, but  it's welcome no matter how it came about.

The whole area is a mess and I think we'd be better off as brokers of peace instead of lobbing in missiles.

Obama did not have a super majority to get Gitmo closed.

True he didn't, but he knew that before he made his promise. As I pointed out before he should not make promises he can't keep. That is exactly what he did. That makes him a typical politician.

I agree, but how do we do that when everybody involved hates our guts. The only thing people in the middle east hate more than us are the Jews.

You folks seem to be laboring under the misguided delusion that I am for some reason trolling a comic-and-superhero-oriented forum while "masquerading" under a different persona in an attempt to hide my true character so I can surreptitiously mislead everyone and accrue massive plus Charisma points for some nefarious end.

Oddly enough, the truth of the matter is that I am merely trying to behave in a respectful manner while in the Chief's house -- this IS "the house that John Byrne built" in that it is JB's "home" here on the Internet.  All of us are here as JB's "guests," so while I will engage in open discussion here, I always attempt to do so in a manner that is as respectful as possible to JB's other "guests."  I will -- as respectfully as possible -- call out illogical silliness when I see it on display, especially when people try to pass it off as "truth," but I will not "pee on the carpets" while doing so in JB's house.

Beyond that, you can bait me all you want, you can make allegations about me and declare them as "facts" -- that's between you and JB, and, hence, not my problem.

In the meantime, I will do my best to maintain what I hope JB considers an "acceptable" tone, out of respect for him.

That includes parking my use of terms like "Obamacare" at the door -- on MY facebook page, I can say whatever I like . . . THAT'S the beauty of the First Amendment, like it or not.

Using a broad brush to try to paint me as a "FOX News-loving, right-wing, Republican @$$-licking, Tea-Party conservative nutjob" (obviously not your words, to be sure, but certainly my interpretation of your general tone), though, is way off-base, especially when you know nothing about me . . . and if you think you know anything about me from browsing a few facebook posts and reading a few posts here in this thread, then I think you've probably got a pretty narrow and intolerant world view.

I suppose we all do what it takes to hold your heads high and feel like the righteous ones, though . . . and, unfortunately, that's pretty much how you get to where we are now with Syria.

Obama has not stopped trying to close Gitmo. You blame him for the republicans actions on keeping it open? Yeesh no wonder this country is in the crapper.

I agree, but how do we do that when everybody involved hates our guts. The only thing people in the middle east hate more than us are the Jews.

It is not about us, it is about them not gassing each other. Obama just used our might to get them to the table.
