I'm in the same boat, though I wonder if they were publishing them less frequently, wouldn't we be seeing less volumes by the same creator? I'm passing on many of them, mostly because I'm finding myself being more selective as they put out more product.

Right. I think that's what where I'm at too. I might buy all of them if there were only a couple to buy a year. As it is, I'm being very selective.

I've purchased them all but the Jeff Smith, Sergio Aragones, Basil Wolverton, Charles Schultz. I have the fever for them. I didn't realize IDW was putting out one a month. Yikes! Who can pass on a Mister Miracle or a Kamandi though? Or another Steranko? Or another Eisner? Or another Best of EC? See my problem?

My problem as well Brennan. I did pass on the Mister Miracle because it just wasn't in the budget. I would've loved to have it. Turned done the BEST of EC Vol. 2 as well. There's simply too many now for me to get every one. It's made worse due to the shipping. They may solicit one a month, but that's now how they ship. Heck, IIRC, last half of May to SDCC saw the shipping of: Jack Kirby NEW GODS Charles Schulz PEANUTS Mike Mignola HELLBOY Jim Steranko NICK FURY Dave Gibbons WATCHMEN Plus at SDCC they had the Walt Simonson THOR exclusive. So, six books in about ten to twelve weeks.

Yeah, I hear you. I don't really buy many comics these days so I factor that in to the budget, or rather rationalize spending the cash on AEs. Heh.
Some of us will need to take part-time jobs just to feed our AE addiction.
These things provide hours of entertainment. I love the art so - outside of the net (and it isn't even close to the same feeling) - where can we see this stuff? No place.
Did you get the PEANUTS one?
I see the second Eisner Spirit is listed for next week.

I've got a bunch waiting for me at my LCS. I'm going to stop ordering them; they're so frequent I can't afford the ones I've already ordered! Once quarterly would be fine, but I had a month where four came in last year, and I've been behind ever since.
Great format, great execution, lousy scheduling.

Agreed Brad. But, in the end, it's a business. The only reason IDW would slow the pace is if sales fall. Since it seems that Diamond is taking in more orders than they can fill, (I base this on not getting a couple I've ordered) they're selling out for the most part. No reason to slow down if more books mean more money.
I have The SPIRT Vol. 2 on order. I really hope that one comes in. Volume 1 is one of my favorites. You can't really grap how good Eisner's work until you at least see it in this format. It's really stunning.

I'm getting ready to buy the Walt Thor volume. Does anyone know why they skipped issues in the 7 that are included?
In response to this question from Brian Miller: The Beta Ray Bill storyline was a given for a Walt Simonson Thor collection. The storyline included after that is one of Walt's favorites, so that's why it was part of the book. That was only the second Artist's Edition produced, so I'm sure no one was thinking that these might catch on to the point that we'd see enough demand to have the entirety of Walt's run collected in this format.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a second volume at some point with additional issues, but keep in mind that Walt's got his Fantastic Four artwork, Orion, Star Slammers, Ragnarok...any number of other books we could see first.

There was mention of doing a Star Slammers AE early last year.

Don't forget Walt's "Manhunter" AE! It arrived at my door about a month ago and is beautiful! The entire Manhunter storyline along with Metal Men, Capt. Fear (absolutely beautiful!), Dr. Fate and a Batman story!

Hey how do you guys store your AE's? I've kept mine in the shipping boxes - to protect them from dust etc - but now have read the cardboard will eat away at the books? I'd never store them vertically - due to the weight pressure on the binding.
