Awesome ones!
Plus some beautiful single pages and covers!

I painstakingly read through #232 in the AE last night, and, even though
I've read the issue 50 times, seeing the zip a tone and the white paint
cobwebs et al was a huge thrill.

The book arrived yesterday, and I enjoyed thumbing through it.  It reminded me of my reaction to JB's taking over the book in the first place, which was that the quality of the scripts and handling of the characters was good, and the art had a more organic quality that I liked when JB inked himself.  To this day, other than the Lee-Kirby version, its the only FF run that much sticks in my memory, despite some good art jobs by Buscema and others.  (I thought Simonson's FF run, though interesting, was a rare misfire, although like most of the world, I much enjoyed his take on Thor).

Although it's fun to see teams of artists working together, I think Gil Kane's point was essentially correct:  the division of penciller and inker is by and large a production convenience for the company.  So I appreciate that JB, like Russ Manning, Joe Kubert, Steve Ditko, Dan Spiegle, and other artists I admire largely chooses to ink his own stuff.  I think it gives it a quality that is inevitably lost somewhat when other hands, no matter how talented, finish the art.    But I digress.  Point:  very nice book.

Essentially correct, yes. But there was also the fact that many pencilers were poor inkers, and vice versa. The whole was often greater than the sum of its parts when a strong penciler was hooked up with a strong inker.

A stunning book - I got home late last night, and found myself wrapped up into it well into the wee hours of the morning.

I am so glad "Back to the Basics" (#232) is included here.  I very much remember reading this right on the heels of JB's work on UNCANNY X-MEN.  It was my first indication that what I loved about the X-MEN run was because of JB.  It's an excellent story to kick off a legendary run, and how wonderful to see it here.

It marks a time when the Fantastic Four became fantastic again, and JB was given the freedom to write and draw comics on his own,  And the results are really something else.

Seeing the art is very engrossing and this book is a must for comic book fans.

Based on EXISTING editions, I hope it won't be his last!

What I love about these books are the attention they get. The owner of my LCS asked me if he could look through the book when I picked it up. The oohs and ahhs from the other patrons who started looking over his shoulder while he paged through the book was fun to see.

These books are incredible and I shall keep my fingers crossed for another JB one!
