Hi John, wondering if you've received a copy of your Fantastic Four Artist's Edition and if so, what you thought of it.

Also, any chance of other Byrne runs being published in future Artist's Editions?  I would love to see your Captain America in the large format.  Thanks.

Haven't received a comp copy yet.

There is some talk of an X-MEN volume, but, as mentioned elsewhere, it would have to be a selection of random pages, rather than whole stories.

I feel confident that if published, an Uncanny X-Men volume, even of random pages, would be their biggest seller ever.

Is this the final cover design?  Glad they went with the classic FF logo.

Beautiful.  I agree that even a random selection of X-men pages would be a huge seller.

Well, just finished flipping through my John Byrne's Fantastic Four Artist's Edition and I can safely predict that it will be enjoyed by all fans of John's work from that era.  For folks interested in having their copies personalized with commissions...there are only two pages that are blank. I don't know how the paper would hold up to inking;  whether it would bleed or feather.  The book's quality is up to IDW's usual standards.  The pages themselves are remarkably clean in general; only a relative few feature artifacts such as stains on them.  There is a really nice cover gallery after the main stories, a few featuring inks from Terry Austin (make that Uncanny X-Men book happen yesterday, even if it means incomplete stories!!!). Great stuff, thanks IDW, JB and whomever donated the completed stories for making it happen.

Thanks for the heads up Glen. Personally, there's no way I'd send a
$100 book throughout the mail just to get the end papers touched up
by JB. Besides, I don't think he accepts items in the mail for autograph
anyway. I'll just keep saving my pennies ANC hope for the day I can
get a commission. Although work is gonna go real so today. I can't
pick up my copy until quitting time.

I'm changing the title of this to make it the discussion thread for today's release of JB's Fantastic Four Artist's Edition, published by IDW.

In stores today, and hopefully soon in my mailbox.  Or rather, leaning on my mailbox.  It's BIG!

••

I've decided I won't be doing that.

DCBS hasn't shipped mine yet, but it's listed as filled so it should be any time now.  Really looking forward to it!
