I've never been able to form an opinion about Moon Knight one way or the other. Several times over the years, I've tried an issue here or there of one of his titles, but it always seems to be in the middle of a storyline or the series doesn't last long.

Seeing how highly some people here are speaking of the stories in the Essentials, maybe I'll give that a shot.

Aaron, the Essentials 1 and 2 are really good reads. Mainly self contained 1 or 2 part stories.

My advice is that if you don't want to read the later series, then Moon Knight Vol. 1 38 does a pretty fair conclusion to the saga of Marc Spector. It is after Vol 1 that things become a bit disjointed.

I enjoyed some of the Chuck Dixon run from 1989 - 1991, mainly The Bushman storyline where he becomes the President / Dictator of an African nation, and The Trial of Marc Spector involving the Secret Empire. Like most early-90's Marvel comics it suffered from too many Punisher and Spider-Man guest shots.

J.M. DeMatteis did a 6 part story called "Scarlet Redemption" that invoked some of the old Moench / Sienkiewicz tales from issues 26-31 that are worth a read.
