Add Scarlet Witch (whom I'm not a big fan of) and Wonder Man and they're the only Avengers I'd ever need!


(Tho I'm also partial to She-Hulk, "Captain Monica", and "Captain Carol")

Monica was a great character that got no support from inside Marvel. She got a lot of fan support during the stern era, though. She should have become the next big Avengers leader...

I liked Monica Rambeau when she was first introduced in Spider-Man Annual #16. She was a genuine Captain, making her claim to the name somewhat more reasonable than others'. She was beautiful, confident, capable and had a killer John Romita designed costume. What's not to like.

I never saw a later story in which her potential was realized, however. She was the newcomer for awhile. Then just one more person in the background. After awhile, she was de-powered and left sickly for a long while.

I shudder to imagine what Ellis did with the character, however. Where did that appear, Dave? Nextwave?
