First re-read last night...
I'm getting smarter by reading this comic book.

When you consider some of those events which rocked our world millions of years before we even became aware enough to consider such a thing, I'm pretty sure this planet is going to be around even after the sun finally burns itself out and sheds its outer layers like a puff of smoke.  Aside from the well-documented Cretaceous-Tertiary extinction, there was at least one other that outdid even that.  Estimates are that the extinction at the end of the Permian actually exceeded 80% of all known species existing prior to that.  Just what caused it remains a mystery, with theories ranging from a mega-greenhouse effect to the poisoning of the atmosphere by massive volcanism associated with the breakup of the supercontinent Pangaea.

I guess the collision which created the Moon shouldn't really count, as the planet was still very much a red-hot ball of magma that primitive lifeforms would've only been starting to gain a foothold on.  The super-flare that scorches Earth in Doomsday.1 may be considered something akin to that.

A solar flare of that magnitude would surely have destroyed most of the ozone layer of the planet, in addition, the Earth's magnetic field would be completely whacked.

Life might rebound in some form - but life as we know it would likely perish, even that small portion not hit directly by the flare.

••

Maybe. Personally, I'd prefer not to run the test!

I've always said that I love the tramsporters from Star Trek. I've loved them for as long as I can remember. I'm facinated with them. I love them, but I have zero interest in knowing exactly how they work. Pseudo science is more than enough info for me. Whether we'd survive may make for an interesting discussion, but if science was followed by the strict letter of the law, most of my favorite stories and characters wouldn't exist. I have acted as a consultant for a few writers in the field over the years and have treasured every one of those. I've also found out that sometimes the most significant hardcore theory and science of psychology has to be tossed out to make a story work.

Looking forward to reading this tonight.  Got the only copy from my LCS.  So, at least they ordered it but I'm already a JB faithful so it's a missed opportunity to bring in someone new.

Already read it a couple of times. The art is really top
notch ! And Man, the story is packed, full of both drama
and action! Really excellent ! I enjoyed it a lot !

Excepted... the few French mistakes and translations.
They were... distracting !

JB, I hope you will not take it bad, but if I can be of
any help to correct them, hoping that they could be
implimented in the Trade paperback, I would be delighted
to do so.

Also, I don't know if you plan to have Pascal saying more
French wordings but I can check / translate those for the
remaining issues.

Anyway, issue 2 cannot arrive soon enough. It is going to
be a long wait! I am so looking forward to read the rest.

Reread it. Had a blast! Love the Vatican sequence! Benning is a great
character! The subplots are all pretty cool. Looking forward to #2!

JB, the panel where the Pope crosses the bridge is a cool looking 'painting' in itself. Real brush or PITT?

Every single time I pick a favorite character from a JB title...

...he kills them...

Great read, though! Really looking forward to the next issue!
