The count down has begun. This coming wednesday is the end of the world as we know it, well as far as JB's new world is concerned. JB has been on a role with all the new worlds he has been creating and this one is on fire [pun intended].

So my ? to everybody is are you prepared for the end?

Who doesn't, Derek?
It's the end of the world scenarios and zombies. They're everywhere these days!
But I'm excited about the new JB mini series. Me likes it!

••

My only concern is that there are bound to be people who will pick away at my "science" in this story.

Compared to DOOMSDAY+1, which was a fantasy populated by aliens, robots, mermaids and other such elements, this new book is relentlessly grim -- but I didn't want it completely inaccessible! So the global disaster that sets things rolling "calms down" fairly quickly. "Angry skies" is a common color note, but I didn't want the whole book to be about hurricanes and acid rain!!

One of the things I love the most about end of the world scenarios is the survivalist aspect. Most of us would be ill equipped to survive in a wilderness on our own but to be stranded in an empty city can be just as dangerous. It's also a fascinating way to examine society get thrown back to a hunter gatherer tribal structure.

JB, I know you mentioned that solar activity will be the catalyst for the series. Did you do any research about what would actually happen?

Thanks!
