does anyone really think victor von doom would NOT imagine himself equal to the challenge of battling dark phoenix?

••

Sure, Doom ALWAYS thinks he's gonna win. That's why he LOSES!!

Very cool. I like that Dark Phoenix is added into the mix. Love the composition of the layout.

I really enjoy how most of these commissions have me imagining stories and outcomes.

Do you think all that Doom has planned is to use his tech that's in his grasp? He is Doom! heh, Another reason he's one of my favorite villains.

Doom bases he assumption of success more on pessimism than optimism, I think. He has SUCH a low opinion of the rest of the human race!

(Just noticed I cannot type the words "human race" without hearing in my mind Peter Sellers' somewhat strangled intonation of those words as Dr. Strangelove!)

JB, I remember reading (I think it was from the old Marvel Age mag) that you planned to write a Dr. Doom story every year while on the FF.

What was the driving force behind that?

Since Doom was the FF's Number One villain, I felt he should appear no less than once per year. Sometimes more!

it'd be very hard to be the writer and/or artist on fantastic four and NOT want to include doom at some point
