For those of you not from the Cleveland area here is a nice little piece the Cleveland Plain Dealer did for Superman's 75th Anniversary. Nice video of the Superman display in the airport and shots outside the old homes of Siegel and Shuster.

Interesting piece, Paul, thank you for the link.

Wondering how to mark the anniversary myself. Should I watch all the Christopher Reeve movies? Or read Mr. Byrne's collection of stories? I feel I need to do something.

Today is the official birthday of the Man of Steel. Action Comics # 1 hit the newstands this day in 1938. The Mayor of Cleveland has declared this to be Superman Day. Anyone flying into the Cleveland Hopkins Airport today will have cupcakes waiting for them by the Superman display. They will be raising a Superman flag at City Hall today at 1PM. The lights of the Terminal Tower will be red, yellow and blue today.

Listening to the Williams Superman: The Movie score is how I'm celebrating this day.

I am literally listening to the Williams Movie score right now and didn't even realise it was Superman's 75th. Wow. Happy birthday to the big guy with the cape.

Well, Clark, big time hero and mild mannered reporter, farmboy and saviour, thank you for the good memories and happy birthday!
Your friend, Francesco.

Anyway, did really Action #1 hit the stands on April, 18th? I remember how some anniversary issues (#484 and #544, for instance) were released in March.

Amongst there Superman-Centric articles today, ComicBookResources has a poll on the best Superman writer.

Our own JB is on the list of writers.

They also have the 25 Top Superman Stories, as voted on by viewers.

5 of them from the 50 years before Crisis on Infinite Earths (2 of those written by Siegel at least); 4 from the past 5 years; most of the rest are late 90s to early 2000s.

At least JB showed up near the top, at #5.

Voted for JB! Who is running second to Morrison right now.
