The really sad thing here is that the reprints done in this "style" -- poor reproduction of the line work, slab color, shiny paper -- don't even look like comics! Not even modern comics, which themselves barely look like comics.Who is the intended audience?

I'm sorry to hear the book's quality is so bad. I was considering getting it, mostly because I'm really not too familiar with much of Garcia-Lopez's work. Somehow, I really wasn't made aware of him until I started to hear a lot about him on this forum. I guess I just never happened upon his comics when I was growing up. But I like everything I've seen so far.

Aaron -- See if you can find copies of TWILIGHT. Avoid actually reading it at all costs, but look at the pictures. Amazing!

Sorry to learn this collection suffers from poor printing. I felt the same way
about the Camelot 3000 Deluxe Edition that came out a few years back--
very bad reproduction.

In my mind, his Jonah Hex pages (he did the art in issues 1-4 of the
original series) are the most striking images he's ever produced.

To make matters worse, I just double checked the recent Alan Davis and Jim Aparo Batman volumes, and altho they have the slick paper and slab color, they have much better reproduction of the black line.So this POS becomes even more inexcusable.

I felt the same way about the Camelot 3000 Deluxe Edition that came out a few years back--very bad reproduction.•• That CAMELOT volume was unbelievably bad. Nearly impossible to understand how a so-called "professional" operation like DC could have even let it out of the house. I was looking forward to spending many an hour soaking up the Brian Bolland art, but when I flipped it open I had to slam it shut immediately, before my eyes started to bleed. Have not looked again since!

I've been forced to conclude that there are no professional editors working in DC's reprint department. No one there seems to understand what quality checking actually entails. Typos are being missed. A recent reprint of the Metal Man back-ups from the most recent Doom Patrol series appeared as if the artwork had been photographed from the printed pages and then reproduced at very low resolution. There's a Super Friends volume wherein the editor clearly could not be bothered to read the stories as he reprints only the first part of a two-part story, leaving everyone in the story to look like idiots, and then includes another tale that refers back to an issue he skipped entirely. Any intelligent person who knew those stories would have simply included the latter story in place of the former, yet this guy... clearly didn't read the book. And why should he, really? Read the "Super Friends??" Pffagh...! I'm sure he felt it was bad enough he was assigned the stupid thing at all... The DC logo on any trade or hardback these days is tantamount to a flashing red warning light.

Ugh, so looking forward to this. Have to head over to eBay to see if I can find some of the originals...
