I wanted to get Scott back to his more slender form, but was told no, he must "look like a leader!"

What?  You can't be a good leader if you are slender?

I really like the Cassaday-designed Cyclops look.

The "secret origin" of the X-Men in civvies lay in their book having become a reprint. I was told editorial had decided it would be "confusing" for readers if the team were suddenly back in their school uniforms in this story.

I guess Marvel editors in those days thought that kids were easily confused!

My favorite depiction of Jean was her little "white glove" look. I always wanted to see a JB version of that!

Aside from the original school uniforms, I have a huge soft spot for the
Simonson X-Factor uniforms from after Fall of the Mutants.

The ones where the Beast wore a brown uniform? I hated that color scheme. Brown and yellow over blue fur.

Hey, that looks familiar! Even though its more of a vintage 40s Coke ad, I
thought the 60s outfit still worked for my commission.

Side by side, I would say the Cassidy version is best. Going by
memory, I would have said either the second costume or the Lee
version.

That's Emma Frost? What, is she 16 again or something?

That, or I almost thought it was Magick (before I looked behind Cyclops and saw the chick with the funky sword).  What is she trying to be now?  The Black Queen?

Ah, jeez... I long for the days when people kept the characters on model.

It's rare that I like a new version over a classic, but I agree that Cassady actually made Cyclops look his best so far.

The Cassaday version is very good, but I still prefer the classic graduation uniform, drawn above by Paul Smith. I quite like all of the first four Cyclops uniforms in fact.
