Stephen, IDW books have the UPC code on the back. Above all of those they list the cover artist. It has nothing to do with the back cover ads.

What a gorgeous little bundle of sci-fi. Lots and lots of meat, details, acting and mystery. Great coloring, too!

Great issue JB. This seemed like a substantial comic, like there was a lot to it.
Loved it and am looking forward to the next issue.

I'm really glad that I decided to go to my local comic book shop and buy the first issue of The High Ways before they are all sold out!   I think this book is going to be very popular!   Before I even read anything on page one, I was thrilled by the beautiful artwork!   And by page two, I was hooked on the storyline!

I really enjoyed the chemistry between the nervous and insecure Eddie Wallace and the outgoing and very forward Marilyn Jones!   Seeing the two characters interact really helped make the first issue of The Highways an interesting read!   And the story got even better when the gruff and very assertive Jack Cassidy was introduced!  I think that I can understand why some readers may not like him since he comes off like a drill sergeant...   But I actually thought that he was a breath of fresh air!

I also liked how the tension and suspense grew from the time that Cagney and company reached Europa...  To the chilling last panel!

John Byrne really outdid himself with this book and I may do something that I haven't done in years...  And that is, read it again!

Wow! I loved this book! The art is very detailed and proof the mr. Byrne
still has "IT!" I hope that the colorist O'Grady can continue on ALL
future works because he complements Byrne so well! Great Job to
everyone involved! bravo!Ps. Wallace you naughty boy! :)

JB, when Marilyn and I were on the station, if we had looked straight up, would we have seen people walking "upside down" in the distance?

When I heard this would be based on a glimpse introduced in NEXT MEN, I was hoping for what I read last night in THE HIGH WAYS -- a new story and set of characters with the sci-fi tone of NEXT MEN.  It has the feel of that universe while being new and unique.  This also evokes the fun I had reading JB's STAR TREK work.

Jonesy is an instant favorite - you have a knack for introducing characters, JB, and she is awesome in this first issue!  I like the way she and Cagney bounce off each other, and her instant rapport with Eddie Wallace is great.  I really like that she calls him "Sprout"!

The preview link does not do this art justice.  Get your hands on a printed copy if you can -- the spaceships and star fields are something else.  The B&W sneaks of the Carol Ann and the station at Europa that we saw here on the forum look even better in the book.

Fantastic, JB!

Again, I must sing the praises of Leonard O'Grady! When I was sent proofs of his coloring, I was blown away by what he did with Europa. The down-shot of the Carol Ann landing is worth the price of admission all by itself!

Very enjoyable issue. Lots of good setup without being boring and of course a last page that makes me wish I had the second issue in hand today. I picked up the last copy at one of the comic shops on the way home.

- Edited to fix autocorrected word

Thanks, JB! Another wonderful start to a new series. Add this to all the other titles JB has hooked me with.
