The High Ways, a very good, fun read. Impressive how the feel of this is so different from Trio besides from the obvious. I'm in it for the long haul. Yeah I said it.

I really enjoyed this issue. Great story -- I'm really looking forward to seeing where it goes -- and the art was top notch as always.
I think my favorite detail is the way you depicted the shifting contour of the dockyard. That panel that stretches across pages 2 and 3 gave me exactly the sort of disoriented feeling that Jones described. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

I absolutely LOVED it!!! I bought it off Comixology and it did look beautiful. I do miss reading a true paper comic, but I haven't been into a comic shop in a few years. I very much look forward to the next issue!!

That first issue was very intriguing, I loved the realistic environment, and the "casual" sense of danger of living in space is very pregnant.
I found all the main characters (the Carol Ann crew) likable (even rough-around-the-edges Cagney until proven otherwise), but the favorite is definitely Jonesy.
Can't wait for the next issue !
By the way, I hadn't read JBNM, so I ended up buying the High Ways #1 and the first volume of JBNM (from 2112 to issue #6) and I am hooked !
I am going to have to go back to the comic store earlier than I thought to get the next volume !

Of all the touches that made this book seem futuristic, the one I can't get out of my head is "space law." Having to assist fellow travelers just seems civilized.

Having to assist fellow travelers just seems civilized.•• One of the elements I'm playing with in HIGH WAYS is that in many ways the Future will be a whole lot like the Past. Our high speed society, for instance, will find itself operating on the kinds of time frames that were more common to the Elizabethans, as journeys take months and even years, instead of hours or days. Ditto the notion of "civility". In the Old West there were "rules" about taking in travelers. I see much the same in the Big Up.

finally had a few quiet moments last night, so I read HW1 and really love it. way to go! the carol ann reminded me a bit of the first glimpse of the millennium falcon-- we go "ooh!" and the people *inside* the story go "oh." :) love the design work too. it has hints of SPACE:1999, 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY and a bit of OUTLAND as well-- some very "clean" futures mixed with very "lived in" futures, with a very cool surprise at the end of the first issue. again, way to go! looking forward to the next issue!
