My first Byrne comic was Marvel Team-Up #59. I was immediately struck with how different JB's art was than I what I was used to. It seemed "modern" to my young mind, sleeker and more adult (in the good sense). I hadn't been a regular reader of Marvel Team-Up at this point, but I became one then. It was a treat each month to see JB's take on another hero. I've been a Byrne victim ever since.

I'm honestly not sure. The first thing I remember buying with the knowledge
that it contained John Byrne artwork was X-Men #130--this primarily
because a friend raved about X-Men and John Byrne all time time. Turns out,
he was justified! Then, I realized I already had some comics by this Byrne
guy: some Marvel Team-Up, an Iron Fist or two, a Champions, etc. After that,
I really started paying attention to the guy's work. Not sure whatever
happened to him, though...

I remember reading Uncanny 108 twice trying to put my finger on what had changed . I was twelve. After issue 112 I figured out it would be okay without Dave. It was a magical time.

My first john byrne was the u.k. reprint title of secret wars.In the comic was a back up series called "ALPHA FLIGHT".The stories were reprinted in black and white which just made to art stand out even more.I was hooked.I soon discovered the original america issue and picked up alpha flight 26 and fantastic four 289,I become a marvel zombie and then a d.c. zombie when mr byrne went to d.c.  An amazing time, great memories and great stories/art.     THANKS TO JOHN BYRNE FOR  ALL HS WORK

I don,t remember well, but I think that my first "Byrne-contact" was in one first spanish editon , b/w, of  Iron Fist (Puño de Hierro, in Spain) many, many years ago. Impressive!

But I realized that Byrne was  Byrne in the XMen (Patrulla X in Spain) episodes about Proteus, spanish edition b/w again. Unforgetable!

Thanks Master for so many good times!

My first book by JB was X-Men 118. The inking was done by Ricardo Villamonte, I think it was the only one not inked by Terry Austin.
