They apparently can't keep Bushmasters on the shelves.
Do these same folks run out and buy tainted food when there's a salmonella outbreak?

At the grocery last night, I overheard the guy in front of me talking to an older gentleman about what happened in Connecticut last week. He told is elder that, and I DO quote, "what happened was not the fault of guns. The only people whose fault it is, is the parents." The somewhat flabbergasted cashier then asked him for specification. " It's the parents' fault for ever having those children in the first place."   He is actually blaming the parents of those children that were killed by a mentally unbalanced gunman for them getting shot because they decided to have children.

I had two thoughts after hearing this:

a) I really hope he dosen't have kids

b) What kind of society are we in where blame is shifted to so far a degree?

Obama has appointed Biden to head an investigation, which is official Washington-ese for "We're all done now, what more did you want?"

Even if such a thing as a ban on the sale of assault weapons was to happen, its a ban on OWNERSHIP that would be the real step forward. Or just a general ban on civilian ownership of any weapon that was specifically designed and made to kill human beings.

Apparently this idiot thinks the shooter was armed with Hollywood Bullets, which politely STOP at the first thing they hit.

From George Takei's blog - Granted, the underlying logic is nothing new, but I really like how he frames the point and skewers it pretty thoroughly:

And from a different angle, it appears the press are trying to point the finger at videogames (as opposed to, you know, GUNS, or the fact that the perpetrator clearly had some kind of neurological disorder) - here's a pretty well-reasoned response by video-columnist TotalBiscuit (he's a bit ranty in style, but it's worth bearing with):

<<The nation's largest gun-rights lobby called Friday for armed police officers to be posted in every American school to stop the next killer "waiting in the wings.">>

Problem solved! Next?

The NRA could've come into this tragedy looking gracious and intelligent.

Instead it went on a self-centered finger-pointing and paranoid blame-dodging exercise - even accusing "the media" of being afraid of the NRA.

Why am i not surprised??
