Ryan: What about you, Nathan?

---

I started the thread because I'd like a new commission... just not sure what to get!

Anything drawn by JRJR would be awesome. I know he's a busy guy and doesn't really do commissions.

I wish it was possible to get a Ditko commission.

I wish Sal Buscema still drew in his 80's style. I'd love a ROM commission!

...I'll keep thinking about it.

I'd tell you guy's, but I'm afraid one of you rat bastards would steal my ideas!

I will tell you this, I'd keep JB very busy!

On a serious note, I never really thought about comic art on a serious scale until joining the Forum here. I went to a few Seattle and other west coast cons back in the late 80's and early 90's, but it didn't occur to me to ask anyone for commissions or sketches. And the comic pages I did see that I liked, I couldn't afford then.

Now that I have some money, a lot of the guys I like are either dead or their pages are real expensive. I've picked up a few, but I really have to have a connection to buy comic pages.

As for commissions, it's hard to beat JB's deal. He really gives you some bang for your buck, plus he's an artist I've loved since I was 13. I'd of bought more, but I keep going on vacations and crap like that!

I think Neal Adams and George Perez are two guys I'd put at the top of my list, but there are many other talented people I'd throw my money at too if I could.

I think he's done a few on very rare occasions. Maybe one day he might start doing them on a frequent basis. I've had a commission in mind for him for over a decade.

I have 11 emails already written for commissions that just need funding. Some should be of no surprise, like Spider-Man villains, others are crossover ideas and my most recent is a team idea. I have found the best way to come up with commissions is to read old comics or call up old friends about the comics we read as kids. Looking at the ideas other people come up with is rather inspiring as well. I have spoken to Jim at length about feeling some pressure to come up with a commission idea that is "worthy" even when I can't quite articulate the qualities of that benchmark. I will say that hearing from other people that they are impressed or envious of my commissions means I have gone in the right direction.

You know; If money is really was no object and you really want
something cool that no one else has. I'd hit Neal Adams up for a
Batman piece. I'd have it set in the Batcave with the rest of the
Batman family, Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl and Alfred. I'd even ask for a
Batmobile in the background. At his prices, ( this piece would cost
more than some people's cars) you'd have an awesome piece that
NOBODY else would come close to and it wouldn't trip over anybody
else's ideas.

JRJR did some work on the new film I'm doing (I can't say more than that), so I've gotten to know him a bit (super great guy!). I know how crazy busy he is right now... but hopefully in the future I'll get him to do me a drawing :)

Re Romita Jr, he does occasionally do commissions. He did a batman piece for me a few years back (and yes, it's to die for)

There really are very few people left I want to commision and unfortunately the folks I do want aren't taking requests. My "biggies" were Byrne, Perez, Romita Jr, Kelley Jones, and Neal Adams and I've been lucky to get batman pieces from each. Walt Simonson, mike zeck, and Garcia Lopez would be the artists i would kill for a piece from

A full commission from Simonson would be amazing. Not 100% sure what I'd get but would figure it out.

Romita Jr. is another. I'm hopeful it will happen soon!
