As of 12 PM up here in (upper) Fairfield County CT, there is a LOT of cold wind, but little rain.
The school systems up here closed for Monday and Tuesday, so my wife and younger daughter are home from school today. So far, we still have power, so I'm able to work remote from our New York office.

Getting a lot more rain than we did with Irene, not much wind yet.
Just reinforced the chicken coop roof.

Hoping our treehouse survives. Its survived 30 mile hr winds and 3 feet of snow.

Stay safe everyone!

My wife, who works for the local power company (PSNH), has just been called in for storm duty. It means 16 to 18 hour days until the power is restored to all customers.

Stay safe, stay home (if you can).

Good luck everyone- as someone who lives in a flood-prone area, I know well the stress and anxiety of the next day or two.  Hopefully it will not stretch Katrina-like in the aftermath.

Dire predictions are putting 10 million people without power for as long as 10 days. Irene knocked out my power for 61 hours, and that was miserable. Not looking forward to 4 times longer!

(Also not looking forward to people who will remind us that "the pioneers" and "our ancestors" didn't even HAVE power, as we do. That's so comforting, of course. Like telling a man who's being hit on the head with a 2x4 that he should be grateful to have a head to be hit!)

First few big gusts of wind by me -- and it's not making me optimistic about the power holding out.

Yeesh!

By the way, JB, how is Gwynn handling things??  Hopefully she is not too freaked out by it.

Power's still going, but winds are picking up...we've taken the (unusual
for us) precaution of filling our tub with water so that we'll have
something to flush with in case the power is out for an extended period.
We already have notification that Dylan's school will be closed
tomorrow.

Thousands around me without power. Our grid is still on, somehow.

The news is saying that the hurricane is moving faster and will hit max effect in NY around 6 pm instead of 8 pm.

In pioneer days we didn't have 2x4's either.

Hang in there everybody! Candle-up!
