That makes sense. Thanks, JB. That word was missing from the news report. I think reporting something first is more important these days than being accurate.

My first photo taken from the rear window this morning:

Believe it or not, this was before 9:00 this morning.  The puddle has now expanded in the back yard to submerge the ground around the birdbath behind that tree on your left.  Taking more photos throughout the day, so that there will be a record of the event as it unfolds.

The question now becoms what it'll all look like tomorrow morning at daylight, as the eye of the storm is forecast to cross over Delaware south or me at 2:00 AM tomorrow.  I may end up offline until well after then.

I decided not to try to be a work hero and stayed home - the bridges
were open this morning, but I didn't want to end up getting stuck in
Philly with my family in Jersey.

I can't believe my world is being stopped by rain!

More likely, lots of rain, with the threat of power outages caused by trees downed by gusts of wind, or the power lines getting blown off their connections by themselves.  Which is what I'm worried about here.

Besides that, I'd hate to be escorted to the nearest precinct by the local constabulary if I did try driving around today, even though the job is closed today.  They declared a state of emergency in my state today, which means just about everything is closed down.

Funny thing is, I recall going to school back in the mid-1980s with a similar weather condition.  I was walking into the building with a stiff breeze blowing rain into my face.  Granted, this one was nowhere as strong as Sandy is, and the rain not quite so heavy, but...

Looks like she's begun her left turn.

Ah, well! Just hope I will not be awakened in the small hours of tomorrow morning by the sounds of trees crashing down around my house!

Just as long as they're not ON the house.  And good luck in riding out the storm, JB and everyone else affected!

Starting to rain here now, just a little, with slight wind. Will be going to work at 2 if it's not dramatically worse. More worried about getting home at 9 than I am about getting there.

Moderate rain and winds here.  I only work about 7 minutes from home, so I'll be heading in today.  If power goes out during the day I'd rather be at the office, which has a generator, rather than sitting at home in the dark.

As a Floridian (a mere 10 minutes from the coast), I am well versed in the real danger a large hurricane can present and I hope all in Sandy's path stay safe and secure. For those in a potential flood zones move those prized possessions, photogpraphs (and comics) to higher (or dryer) ground.

We escaped with just some moderate wind and light rain that dislodged a few spanish-moss encrusted branches.

Good luck all!
