Here in DC, they're making a big deal out of it, but we're only likely to be affected in SCENARIO FOUR!  Scenario's one through three take the storm far enough away that it won't give us more than rain and cold temps.

I'm not panicking about being Scenario Four...

Stock up on cereal, rice, and dried meats and vegetables.  That way, you've got a shelf full of longer-lasting food and the only thing you really have to worry about here is water.

From my location (the top of Delaware between New Jersey and northeast Maryland), the current track places the track of the storm coming ashore somewhere in south Jersey and crossing the state to the east of the Delaware Bay.  It looks it'll go across the river south of Philadelphia.

I am just now finding out about this storm. We sailed out of Tampa to the Western Caribbean and back to Tampa last week, so I was keeping an eye on the NOAA Hurricane Center before we sailed out. There were a couple depressions way out East, and we had fairly mild, if not unseasonably warm, weather while at sea.  So I didn't think anything about it once we got back.

On Sunday, we drove back (to IN) from FL through GA and SC.  I wanted my son to see the Smokies, so we took the long way back.  Looks like we were just a little bit ahead of the storm.

Hope everyone in the path fares well.

Tom,

I'm a little further west of you in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. I'm hoping that you're right since we usually only get a piece of what you guys get there.

Just stepped outside for the first time this morning and while it feels just a little windy, a lot of leaves are falling at once, like they're trying to get donw to the ground before they get knocked down.

Going back to work today after a week's vacation and will probably find mobs of people looking for stuff we've already run out of.

My main hope at this point, since I am well inland and do not need to worry about tidal surges, is that "Snowtober" and Hurricane Irene, last year, cleared out the bulk of the dead wood in the surrounding trees and there's nothing left to come down.

Knock, er, wood.

The latest projected path is showing Sabdy coming straight up through
the middle of New York State and still having Tropical Storm strength
winds. So much for my declaration that'll I'll take our winters because
we don't get hurricanes, wild fires, tornadoes, or earth quakes.

Running out to get some batteries, water and candles today.

Be safe to everyone that is in the path. These huge storms are not much fun.
