Congrats, JB. I was getting cranky enough after five days, so your 7 days must have been getting even worse, especially with the temperature dropping.

Isn't it amazing how dependent we are on electricity? Living on the Gulf Coast I've experienced numerous storms that knocked out power and every time my mind would go back to the fact that not that long ago nobody had such luxuries.

Electricity is not a "luxury". It is too much a vital party of our society to be considered such. It is not we who are "spoiled", as some would have it. It was people in the Past -- and parts of the world even today -- who were deprived.
