I'm still waiting, even though I've watched my neighbors behind me
blaring their backyard lights tauntingly into my yard for 3 nights in a
row.....this is starting to get annoying.

130+ hours

No way of knowing, really, how the crews are progressing up the winding country roads along which travel the lines that carry my power. Slightly less frustrating, tho, than back in Fairfield where the other side of the street seemed somehow to get power back before I did!

Wow, 5 1/2 days without power. I would be so frustrated by now.

Hopefully the wait won't be too much longer, JB

I feel spoiled and lucky that by the time the storm got to this neck of the woods it was barely a storm at all. Same for my family on the east coast in NS.

I have a feeling that this is going to be a very rough winter.  Even if we don't get another Sandy-type storm in the next year or so, the thought of having a nor'easter coming up the coast just a week and a day from her landfall is enough to make me hope they can at least get some relief on the stricken coasts before that arrives.  The hope here is that Sandy-type events are once a century, and the experience is enough to make people think twice about disobeying evacuation orders or not investing in that backup generator system.

I've already heard statements to the effect that this winter will be a stormy one.  The current forecast is for mixed rain and snow in my neck of the woods, which won't be so bad unless that becomes an ice storm Wednesday morning.  I saw lows at 28-30 degrees Farenheit in one forecast, and that doesn't take much to produce the ice that could weigh down power lines and make roads dangerous.  The folks still without power along the shoreline will have to worry about flood tides making their way into the neighborhoods already quite exposed due to the dunes being washed away.

No power for me since Monday, October 29, at 9:30. No clue when it is coming back. Some say tonight... some say not until Wednesday.

I'm only able to be online briefly right now because I'm at a friend's with a generator.

Yes -- this is what I need to get.

Oh well, on the bright side, I've read my 4 year old boy a TON of comic books over the past week!

A set of crossed fingers is about as close as I get for help.  But here's hoping they are going to get it done.

Maybe that was a good sign, JB; perhaps they were marking the area for first thing in the morning? I'll cross my fingers for you!
