Nathan's last two examples (FF and WCA), in my opinion, are shining examples of JB double-page spreads really enhancing the story. And so much to take in!

All of the classic Byrne examples above really made me say "WOW!" when I saw them! In context, they all worked well in their issues -- that's my opinion.

I remember loving that wheelchair design. Very cool.

John, you did a splash page comic using the Hulk, I think it was Marvel Fanfare, which was awesome. Out of curiosity, was it noticably faster having only the SP to work out then illustrate than pages filled with panels?
Also, seeing all these great DPS, I now sort of crave a DPS issue...or would that just quickly become like looking at regular sized panels but with a magnifying glass?
There was an episode of Excalibur, illustrated by the talented Alan Davis, where the Pheonix battles with Galactus. This is a scene that begs to be a series of DPS but Alan somehow shoe horns it into panels and splash pages.
I think the use of DPS's comes down to story rhythm. With a heavy story you might not have the option of a DPS.
