There was a cardboard Marvel Super Heroes tabletop playset. It had all the landmarks (Baxter Building, Daily Bugle, Dr. Strange's house) and "all" the heroes. The heroes were little, flat cardboard punchouts with, say, Spider-Man on one side and Peter Parker on the other. I LOVED that thing. It's long gone and I don't even know what it is properly called to try to track one down. All the artwork was Kirby, Kane, Romita. Good lord I wish I had that now.

I still have a ton of my old Adventure People. They are beat up from a lot of play, but they are still in remarkably good shape.

Quite a few of the things previously mentioned were childhood toys that I wouldn't mind reacquiring, had I but the time, money, and space to display them.

Particularly the Mego superheroes.

Back when Star Trek I came out (I think) my parents bought me an Enterprise toy, that when you tilted it up the engine noise would go up and when you tilted it down it would go down. Have not seen one since, starting to think I imagined it.

.............

I remember a ship that did rev up and down when tilted, but it wasn't the Enterprise.  There may have been an Enterprise version but I don't recall it.

My best friend had it and the first time he turned it on, his grandfather freaked out because it sounded like the bomb warning sirens from WWII.  I remember it well.

Well, I was going to mention the Zintar robot toy from Ideal's Zeroid's line, but after finding this website:

http://www.zeroidz.com/Zeroids.html

... I think my childhood memories of these toys made them a bit more cooler than what they actually were (and for some reason I thought Mattel created these...)

I'll have to go with Major Matt Mason instead.

Jeff Stockwell, looking through my photo collection, apparently that toy was called "Marvel World Adventure Playset," and it looks to have been manufactured by Amsco, the same company that put out the adorable "Super Babies" line of dolls...

Add another vote for the Marvel World Adventure Playset.  That and the Marvel Superheroes Fun Books.

David,

If my son saw your office, he may ask you to adopt him! He loves Hero Factory and Ninjago!

Where do I start? MOTU, Thundercats, G.I. Joe and ALL the Super Powers and Secret Wars toys ever made. I did find my Secret Wars Captain America a few years ago in a box, that was a nice surprise. Sadly, not all my toys were lucky - a schoolfriend buried by Super Powers Batman figure for a "joke" and I never saw it again.
