This is about as close as I like to come to the bible when I'm reading comics.

Wow! Flashback!

I was still figuring out how to do my own lettering when I worked on that issue. So far to go!!

(Also note the editorial intrusion in Thor's response. As I have mentioned many a time, I was taught that punctuation goes inside quotation marks only when it is part of what is being quoted. Thus, Thor's use of the phrase "conflict of interests" should include the question mark only if "conflict of interests" itself is being phrased as a question. Which, in this instance, it is not. I have gone to war with many an editor on this. Even when I went to Dark Horse, to work on creator owned material, I had to come to an "agreement" with my editor -- namely, DON'T MESS WITH MY PUNCTUATION! One of the small joys of working at IDW was discovering Chris Ryall was evidently taught the same thing I was when it came to this!)

I was taught the same thing as well.  Fairly maddening when that seemingly simple rule is, more often than not, tossed out the window!

Hmm, like those editors, I was taught (mid-80s Indiana) that all
punctuation goes inside the quotation marks. However, after college I
went against that and started doing what you guys do (punctuation
inside only if part of the quote), because it made WAY more sense!

You should carry a copy of Elements of Style to put such editorial arguments to rest!
