Regarding the above Wheeler image, you can see what Flavio Sapha means re the Caniff influence.

My Aparo at Marvel picked would have to be the Black Panther.

Though I LOVE Aparo inking himself, I do like Aparo inked by Bill Sienkiewicz

Speaking of Jim Aparo, I just read a cool article on him today:

http://comics101.com/?page=C101

Lots of cool info about him. I didn't know he penciled, inked, and lettered his stuff on the Brave and the Bold. He's a triple crown guy! Not too many of them around (JB being an obvious workhorse himself)

Love Aparo's work. He was my Batman artist and probably still is. I am glad this thread is doing well I have always thought he was underrated.

I always wanted to see what an Aparo-drawn Spider-Man would be
like. He'd have been a great choice for Captain America, too. I'd never
considered Iron Man before but since it's been brought up, I think it's
an interesting idea.

Aparo is also one of my favorites.
Like many of you, I came to appreciate him more as I got older.

I have to say that I also feel that Mike DeCarlo doesn't get his due credit -

when he came to ink Aparo - Jim's own inks (and pencils) weren't nearly as detailed
and as they were in the 70's, and that's OK.
DeCarlo added quite a bit of detail and depth.
I think it's unfair to compare the Aparo/DeCarlo issues to the 70's art,
if anything - compare it to Aparo's own inked issues of the '90s or any other inker who'd
inked Aparo during that period.
I think you may come to a similar conclusion that given Aparo's style at the time -
DeCarlo did quite an admirable job.
With that said - I still rather enjoyed seeing different inkers ink Aparo during KNIGHTFALL.
I have some nice Aparo originals, including the pinup he pencilled and inked (!)
for JBs BATMAN 3D book from 1990:
