A dream Batman team for4 me would have been JB writing and Jim Aparro as artist for a nice long run. (maybe with JB inking Aparro on a few covers)

Tony, not to give too much away, but you might also want to check out Brave & Bold 150, the Batman and "?" issue. Just saying is all... (whistles)...

I'm a huge fan of Jim Aparo's art. While he might not be my favorite Batman artist (that's a tie between the very different styles of Neal Adams and Dick Sprang), he's the artist whose work comes to mind immediately if I think of Batman. And his Spectre is incredible. As much as I loved the later Mandrake/ Ostrander Spectre run, Aparo's is the definitive version for me.

Aparo was an acquired taste. I love his Batman but I still think he
draws weird noses on people. DeCarlo didn't help that at all. But, he is
definitely a great artist. In fact, my first Batman comic was a Brave
And The Bold issue with Batman and the Creeper. There was also a
backup story with The Human Target. Who drew that issue? Jim
Aparo.

Jim Aparo is one of my all-time favorite super-hero artists. He drew most of
the DC Universe over the course of his The Brave and the Bold run, and
he managed to make the various characters his own. His Supergirl really
stood out to me in her team-ups with Batman.

For some reason I still can't quite figure out, I didn't like Aparo at first blush.  Did nothing for me.  Upon further reflection, however, I think he's fantastic.  His Batman is nothing short of genius.  Now I think of him as DC's Sal Buscema.  A workhorse who gets very little credit but who produced a staggering amount of simply fantastic work.

Excellent analogy, Matt. I love both Aparo and Buscema. Both
churned out tons of great work, but don't get the recognition they
deserve. And, Aparo is definitely on my list of top five Batman artists.
Top three, even.

I think he's a good comparison to Sal Buscema, though at his best I'd say I'd rank him just above Sal. Still, Sal is one of my favorites and my definitive Hulk artist.

I'm glad DC is finally reprinting Aparo's best work. For too long they ignored their best Bronze Age material .

Aparo was one of my First Favorite Artists (along with Curt Sawn, Jack
Kirby, Murphy Anderson, Neal Adams, Gil Kane and Joe Kubert.)

Funny enough Matt, I really didn't like Sal Buscema....but now I think he's great. Really like his Thor work when Simonson was writing.

I've always liked Neal Adams more than any other Batman artist. Not to take anything away from Aparo though.
