When I was about 4-6: Action Man; micronauts7-8: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe 9-11: Transformers; Secret Wars toys (I know these were crap, but I loved them)
And by the time I was 12 I started getting albums and things instead of toys.
Star Wars toys run through the timeline above up to about a couple of years after Jedi which would have been when I was 10.
D&D was a big part of my life from about the age of 11 through to 15. Talisman was a fave board game for about a year when I was 13:

I had Big Jim, but he was short compared to GI Joe, so he was the little brother!
Bionic Man was my Giant Man fill-in for the original Avengers Mego group. I had a tiny fairy trinket for the Wasp.

Wanted it so bad but never got it.

I did have plenty of Megos though; including some rarer ones like Iron Man, Falcon and Green Goblin.

Thunderbird 2 remains one of my all-time favorite vehicles. Up there with the TOS Enterprise and Fireball XL5. |

I agree, being a big THUNDERBIRDS fan. I liked Thunderbird 3 as it could go into space, but Thunderbird 2 is something special.
There was a comic published in England years ago which showed us the schematics (is that the right word?) for the craft used in various Gerry Anderson shows, which only made me love them more. Thunderbird 2 and Thunderbird 3 had sleeping quarters and as a kid, there were times, I admit, when I wished they were real because I'd have wanted a ride.
As for the topic question, if the Super Powers Collection and the Secret Wars Collection count as vintage (well, they are nearly thirty years old), then they will forever remain my favourite toy collections.

A buddy of mine had the Dark Tower game too. We played the heck out of that game -- but it was a battery hog. So his mom made us limit the time playing it because it used 4 D batteries. Anyone remember the ad with Orson Wells? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxrY7MWEkwE
We also played the heck out of StopThief -- until we got old enough to figure out where the thief was after just a couple of clues.

Talisman was a fave board game for about a year when I was 13: I got the new version of this and play it with my 9 year old daughters, it's definitely their favorite game!!

Major Matt Mason was my favorite group of toys growing up as well. I can still remember quite well receiving the Space Crawler for my 5th birthday in 1968 as well as the time I asked Santa for the Lunar Base. He asked if I was planning to make a trip to the moon and gave a small chuckle and I remember thinking "why are you making jokes? I really want that Base!". Don't worry, Santa, I can laugh about it now too.

Darren, that Rom figure was the last toy that I ever got for my birthday.Back in 1979, my dad got for my 12th birthday and after that I was deemed too old for toys, but I loved that Rom figure, it was great.

I don't suppose I even knew that Major Matt Mason existed. I did have a Johnny Apollo though.

Michael, that may be the saddest story I've ever heard. Glad you liked ROM though.
