Interesting story about Major Matt Mason; it appears that John Glenn's
shuttle flight back in 1998 (I can't believe it was that long ago) had an
unofficial crew member. It was a Major Matt Mason figure mint in the
box. I later learned that he was an unofficial crew member on several
shuttle flights.

a Milton Bradley game called The Dark Tower

***

I loved that game; haven't thought about it in years.

Dungeons & Dragons was too advanced for me at that age (and by the time I was old enough to play it, I had lost interest), but I played the heck out of this board game.

@ Bob...WOW, I had totally forgotten that I also had the Eagle ship from Space:1999.  Great seeing it again.

Superman and removable-cowl Batman were my first Mego figures.
Still have Superman but Batman fell apart long ago. A non-removable
cowl version replaced it. It, too, eventually fell apart. I still have a
bunch of my Megoes stored away in my folks' WV home.

I think my favorite toys as a kid would have been the Mego figures.
I had a bunch but Ironman is the only one I have left.

My dog Huck chewed Shellhead's leg  in 1976 or so which upset me at the time. Now that Huck is more than 30 years dead its like he left a signature that I now love more than the toy.  Something I try to remember when my kids insist on holding onto messed up toys.

Robert...that thing just leads to kissing girls and fitness....assuming you can catch baseballs in it.

I had one but I couldn't get the damn thing to work.

Ah "The Dark Tower". I can still see the commercial for that game with Orson Welles. The "Dungeon" game Thom shows,I had that as well. Back in the day, those board games ruled in the evenings after homework and supper with my friends and I. Good times.

The Dark Tower.  Wow.  My cousins had it.  I stayed with them  for a week one summer and we played it almost non stop.  I had forgotten about it.

I was also quite fond of these two board games:

I'm not sure I ever actually learned the rules of either game.  I just like setting up the pieces on the maps and acting out battles.
