Gee, John, you just let it all hang out, don't you? Color-wise that is! Guess I am going to have to find time at work today to get something done to post on the boards!

Darren, love the Colossus all inked up and ready to go! Thanks for posting the pencils! Always nice to see the process involved in creating a piece of artwork!

John, I think it would be fun to see an entire story done by you.

Blown away by your versatility JPB.  Love the inked Colossus Darren and the layout version, nice insight into your process.

I apologize upfront for the following ramble.

It is funny how on the board I associate people with their avatars and yet the one I use was for no other reason other than the fact that it was the easiest one I had to upload at the time size wise.

It is however kind of apt.  Back when JB took over the Fantastic Four I was totally enthralled away by his version of the Thing. Around that time I got the chance to read the Kirby FF's through British pocket book reprints.  These two guys more than anybody portrayed the pathos of the Thing together with humour though never at the expense of the character.  He is a monster.

Anyhow, I became obsessed with trying to capture that out of my own head but found it incredibly difficult if not impossible.  Sure the teddy bear version is easy but that was not what I was after. JB slayed me when he said some time back that he found the Thing one of the easier characters to draw.  I persisted.  A big domino fell for me when in the Modern Masters book I saw an unfinished Thing sketch by JB.  Make the rocks bigger.

I did this last night and though it is far from perfect, for me it is a big leap in the right direction.  Still not sure how to place the blacks properly but I finally feel I may one day get there.  I guess I'll keep the avatar after all.

Great Thing Luke. I agree JB's Thing (that just sounds -so- wrong) is the best;-)

JPB, you have a fantastic Silver-Age look. I really like the armored guy at
the top of this page. Your Captain America on a previous page just
ROCKS! The Thing taking one for the cause above is a great SFX shot.

Your work reminds me a little bit of Darwyn Cooke. I would love to see a
full story of your work.
