Okay gang, this isn't a finished piece (probably never will be) since I was just experimenting with my inking.  That, and I wanted to see what "my" Power Girl would look like.  Very few artists seem to get her just right.  "Angry" and/or "butch" seem to be the popular interpretations.

As I mentioned, I was experimenting with inking and actually getting pretty frustrated with it in this case.  I was noodling around with my Micron pens, getting in there and trying to make sure everything was just right.  I really over-rendered the axe guy's face and wasn't really pleased with the overall progress so I was going to just scrap it (the compostion and fluidity still aren't right and I didn't really know where I was going with it.  I just wanted something to ink so I grabbed the closest comic for inspiration which happpened to be an issue of All Star Comics.).  But, never wanting to waste a piece of bristol board, I grabbed the big  black pens and started to finish his armor.

That's really the main reason I posted this pic for everyone, I think he wound up looking very Kirby-esque and was wondering if anyone else thought the same?

Whach out for tangents.
I can only say this much, the axe should be higher than the
shoulder, as it is you have the illusion that his shoulder is much
lower than it really is. Other than that you should finish it.
And remember, you can correct mistakes by drawing on other
paper an pasting it directly onto the board or what i always do
paste over in Photoshop.

Thanks for the tip, and I agree with you.  That's part of the reason I'm not anxious to finish the piece.  The layout is much too static and doesn't really tell a story like a good pinup should.  I was going for a very pivotal moment of anticipation where he's just getting his hands on the axe and she's ready to smack him.  I just tried to get too cute and it fell flat.  No movement whatsoever.  My consolation is that I didn't really intend this to be anything more than forcing myself to ink something.  It is illuminating though to just throw something together and then go back and critique it and see where changes need to be made.  I usually spend a lot of time doing all of that in the layout stage and it makes it difficult to make a change after laboring over the "perfect" layout.  I need to just not think as much in the first stage, get it on paper and then start chipping away.

Wow...AJ! Risque! The chains to the anatomy...ahem! That'll blow everyone away at R3!

Andy, great stuff and highly professional!

Mr. Lloyd, love the finished product.

MAC...I'll go hide now. I am such an unpolished novice! Sigh!

But, then again...dug this up from a fourteen year-old sketchbook!

This is from the Hollenhors Memorial Art Archives! I did this in junior high school, 1989 or '90.

Sean, it is interesting to see where we have come from and compare it to where we are at now, is it not?

With this pic, I was playing with perspective a tad...recent stuff
