My latest burst of creativity.  Prelims for a comic strip:

This originally started as a comic book.  Trickiest part was going from something semi-realistic to a more full-on cartoony look.  The main characters are based on myself and friends of mine, as well, so I also wanted to make them recognizable, even if just to myself.

These sketches came much easier.

This is the b&w finished versions doubling as a model sheet.

And this is the color version.  Haven't decided if the strips going to be b&w or color, so I at least wanted to see what it would look like.  The plan is to do a daily strip on my blog.  I've got 14 strips written and thumbnailed (all done today, which surprised me).  I wanted to give myself a two week cushion before I started the final drawings, and I won't start posting them until I have at least a weeks worth, or maybe two, done.  I figure the best way to plan for any delays is to give myself plenty of time.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks, everybody.

Matt L.--those remind me, vaugely, of some characters that a fellow 'toonist had while I was in college.  Neat stuff.  MONK almost reminds me of a cartoony Erik Larsen type thing--dunno why.

More later, I'm sure.

Gakk!  I appreciate the compliment, Matt, but Erik Larsen?  Ouch.

Everybody else:  Thanks!

'Tis something 'bout the ears, glasses and nose that harkens back to a mad-scientist type that ol' Erik used on Savage Dragon.  Didn't mean it as an insult ('though I can see WHY you'd be insulted!).

Nice work, though, either way!
