MAC great Spider-Man piece!

I find inking relaxing, of course my pencils are tight. Ironically, I have and like inking other artists but I'm not crazy about being inked. My training is to do the whole job.

Marcus- 3D Man!!! I like this Kirby tribute! Have you ever picked up issues of The Jack Kirby Collector? Wonderful stuff. Many tabloid- sized pencil scans of the King at his best.

MAC- fantastic Spider-Man piece. Great composition, montage, poses and expressions; you nailed it! This is one of the best classical Spidey pinups I've seen. It's evocative to the spirit of the character.

New post!

As one of my consultant works in the creative community, I serve as the creative director and member of the Board of Directors for the California Golden State POPS Symphony Orchestra (GSPO - their official site at gspo.com).

Here's an illustration I’d like to share with you guys: This was for the GSPO 2005 Star Wars concert--an 11x17 poster of Anakin vs. Obi Wan. I scanned my line drawing and colored it in Photoshop. Took about a day for the whole thing.

This very well-received Star Wars –related event in California coincided with the theatrical release of Episode III. Many costumed members of the 501st were there posing for pictures. We had media attention and great reaction from the audience.  It was terrific fun.

News!

BattleWorlds Symphony Concert

The composer and conductor for the GSPO, Steve Fox, has agreed to compose, conduct and record at least 10 soundtracks for BattleWorlds. The soundtrack production begins summer 2006. Very soon you will hear orchestral renditions of Mega, Night, Sol and BattleWorlds themes!

The "BattleWorlds Main Title" track will debut at the Aug. 20 2006 "Superheroes and Beyond" concert in CA.

Keep up the good work with all your illustrations, guys!

Have a great day,

GE

LOL! I'm very sorry, Didier; not my intention at all! :) I liked Aurora, truly a great character. I think it's great that you've chosen to draw her in her second outfit, which she used to help separate her twin identity. And nice to see you placed the Canadian flag in the background. Your style reminds me of a Manga version of Alpha Flight. What technique do you use for inks & colors? What was your thoughts in choosing Aurora as your subject, (besides the fact that Jeanne-Marie is very attractive)?

And hey, no posting is worthless-- believe it or not, I learn from postings by everyone.

And to everyone here, please keep on posting your great stuff. We all learn from each other, right? What's important here is to produce, share, learn from each other and grow.

FYI- I'm my own worst critic- I compete only with myself; believe me, nothing is ever done for me. I'm constantly picking up tips on techiniques, and spending countless hours practicing the craft. I really view myself on the lower end of the scale compared to the great masters. I too am learning.

Does anyone here remember this story? Of the elderly 19th century Japanese woodblock drawing master, unmatched in skill, quality, and inspiration, was at journey's end, lying on his deathbead. He was very very old and lived a prolific life. There was no one in the land that even came close to his style. His young woodblock art apprentice tends to his final wishes. Wondering what final words the master wishes to say, maybe some advice to pass on? Maybe the secret to his skill? The master whispers with his dying breath, "If only I had lived 5 more years, I might have considered my work to be good."

I'm just an apprentice.

George-thanks for the kind words and I did get your e-mail but my reply didn't get through to you. Good advice! Great Star Wars piece and congrats on the Battleworlds symphony! 3-D Man was a lot of fun and what my client wanted/ These are commisions from a couple of years ago of old 70s Marvel characters and I have a few more.

Didier- That is a really nice Aurora piece. I like the Canadian flag background.

Chris- Nice work! I really like the natural posing of your characters it gives them attitude.
