[Hey Darren -- I know nothing about true "art" and I notice your blue pencil lines on the Demon -- then you inked over your blue lines - then the blue lines are completely gone...???? How do you do that? Is it a computer trick OR is it as simple as an eraser ?]
My presentation seems to have misled you. I did the rough in blue pencil on an A4 sheet of paper. It was one of a couple of ideas. As it was the one I liked the most, I scanned it in, resized and then printed it out at A3.
What I did was scanned in the two images sperately and placed them one on top of the other in Photoshop, giving the illusion of it being inked directly over the blue line but affording me the facility to display them seperately or together.
[I have to scan and print my (grey) pencils to ink them 'cause I'm too afraid of screwing up the pencils.
Any pointers?]
Try to get over the fear of the ink line, seems the obvious tip from what you have said. It's like a sprinter having a fear of the finish line! It doesn't best serve your intentions to cripple yourself so.
I'd suggest drawing, sketching in pen with no lay outs what-so-ever. Just to familiarise yourself with making sketchy lines. Maybe this will help.
