Thanks George and John! I work for Verizon and was installing a FiOS triple play (phone, internet & TV). That is fiber optics to the house. I put the ladder on the side of the customer's house, like every day, and evened it out with a ladder wedge, checked to see if the ladder was steady and climbed up to hang the wire. Igetup about 10-12 feet and suddenly the ladder starts to slide down the house and i'm on it! You can see the scratch on the house. It has been very cold in NY and the ground is hard. Maybe ther was some ice inbetween the grass I didn't see, but I didn't do anything different or unsafe than I usually do at work.
