Over at R3 in the Designer Jam section, the newest topic is to design your
own version of an National Hero. I really had no plans to participate, but I
was in the library looking around the history section, and came across a
book about the reign of Peter the Great of Russia. It occurred to me to
that he was a truly iconic figure in real life and that he might make a
great comic book character. I don't have an detailed story line behind the
character, but since Russia has a long history of oral and written tradition
of national heroes, here is the basic idea: Mother Russia has been on the
decline for decades and the Spirit of the People calls on the Greatest Hero
to come back and lead the people once again.
