At least DC has dropped all pretense, and admitted that they encourage writers to do stories as if they were writing fan-fiction. Let's hope Marvel does the same.

Why? Owning up to it won't make it any better, rather let us hope that they stop doing it.

I actually keep laughing at those panels. It's not exactly a flashy comic book death. If you didn't know from the context that he's dead, it just looks like he's having a sugar attack or something. Which I suppose is the high road from the company which gave us Ultimate Blob eating Ultimate Wasp in the Ultimate Worst Comic Ever.

Use them in a creative and innovative way, rehabilitate a neglected character, make them a part of a story that puts them back in the spotlight without doing it the easy way. Or, hey, here's an idea; leave them alone until someone more skilled can do just that. I don't get why that's so hard. |

It's how I always felt. Have no feel for a particular character, remove them from the cast if you'd like, just don't kill them. Leave them available for some future writer who does like them. But when they've killed and resurrected so many characters I'm not so distressed by the killing of characters as what is done to their integrity before you kill them.

My favorite part of the reveal in the article: the character screaming "NOOOOO!" during the murder. I almost wept. From the pain of that hoary cliche being rolled out once more.
Embarrassing.

What's sadder is tha Marvel will think any comments good or bad regarding this is a good thing - " it's got people talking!"

When the remaining fans often display the restraint and judgement of crack addicts, Marvel will never take criticism seriously.
It is amusing that the successful recent movies feature characterizations clearly meant to evoke the classic 60's-80's MU and NOT the current versions. It's an odd phase we're in. I'm finding that the movies, games and animation are doing the characters justice, yet the comics are indeed be written like fan-fic. Remember when it was the other way around? Ms. Lion? The Wonder Twins?
