QUOTE:
I'm less concerned with the death of the character than the continued pissing on the character who did the killing |

As always, the really distressing thing is they love the character. All these X creators are fanboys for the character. They think they are doing him justice. The character who is being killed at least I'm not reading how much they love him. They think he's sort of outdated. Me, personally, I'd rather you kill my favorite characters than wreck them for me. The guy they are killing, I kind of wish they had done it to him before several of the stories I read about from the last decade. Stories that screwed with his integrity.

Just sighs, and thanks heaven for IDW.
Don't read "modern Marvel", or the other one. Who can care when they don't.
I'm going back to reading my collection of British comics.
Cheers, Peter

I'm reminded of an old Hollywood joke.A big movie producer is on a tramp in the woods when he comes upon a scene of stunning beauty. Lake, trees, mountains. Enough to make the bleakest soul sing. He buys the land, and, having done so, wades out into the lake and takes a huge shit. "There!" he says as he returns to the shore. "Now it's PERFECT!"

As the `original` X-Men have time travelled from the past to the present, maybe the `original` you-know-who will eventually join them? Or maybe the present X-Men will all die and be replaced by the originals? How about we get hold of Doctor Doom`s time machine and erase Bendis from existence?

I read that the originals are staying and their older counterparts aren't going anywhere. Except for the older Jean who has been dead for awhile. That will be weird.

People always tell me that "I'm living in the past" because I only read old comic books and watch only old TV shows, now you begin to see why.

What amazes me is that Professor X is one of few characters left at Marvel who is entirely about idealism and optimism and no one has found a compelling role for him in several years and justify his death by it being the most valuable story telling option for the character.
Does this keep Marvel on pace for its "death a quarter" policy?

Didn't the legion of Superheroes already do this Schtick two reboots ago in the late 80's or early 90's? Complete with old Phantom Girl being dead and it messing up old Ultra Boy to see young Phantom Girl and Ultra Boy together? Y'know the one where the Earth was in an economic depression, ruled by the Dominators, and eventually got blown up ?

Reading this stuff just breaks my heart. Marvel killed the X-Men years ago.

*** They turned him into a liar who covers up the death of the brother of one of the X-men by wiping the mind of said X-men. He basically got the guy killed too.
