Matt::Bullshit. A character only has as much importance as a writer, editorial staff and company gives them. Agreed. Remember when the Sentinels were "Lame"? Remember when someone said "The Sentinels are not lame, they are writing that way!"? Remember what classic Sentinel story came from the person who said that? All this is is lazy writers, writing stupid Fanfic.

The worst thing is that you can pretty much predict that Brian Bendis is going to kill a character when he does a "big story". His lack of creativity is sad considering he is considered a superstar. Not by me...

Most characters are only as good as the writers make them.
And at this point, you almost feel relieved when a favorite character is killed off because you know they won't be screwing them up any further for a while, and they all come back from the dead eventually (see Bucky, the Swordsman, Iron Man, Barry Allen, Norman Osborn, Jean Grey, Colossus, Elektra, Superman, Captain America, etc. as prime examples).
Who really cares anymore?

Robert, remember how Marvel pissed all over Gwen Stacy in the "Sins Remembered" story? She stayed dead and they somehow pulled off a character assassination anyway.

Does this mean that Scott Summers will die and come back as a new Ghost Rider with a penance stare than can be controlled by ruby-quartz glass? Am I kidding? I don't know anymore. |

Man this idea is even thicker than your average slice of texas toast. Boneheaded to say the least. the levels of recursion going here are staggering. it's a retread of a retread of a retread...of an idea! At least!

Is Disney really going just smile and chuckle as Marvel shits the bed from foot to headboard ? Can this possibly be good for all the movies and cartoons and merchandising ?

Hunted this down on the 'net... Well, given that both characters are now written as jerks, the whole thing reminds me of this from REVENGE OF THE SITH:

They have spent the last 12 years (or more) demonizing and ruining this character. This is nicest thing they've done to him in many many years.
Pretty much true. The now/currently deceased character has been shoved off to the sidelines for years at a clip dating back to the 1960s, and I can probably count on one hand the number of stories since his early 1990s return that showed him in a truly heroic light, so this was practically a mercy killing. His killer has been the victim of a prolonged character assassination dating back at least to the mid-1980s, too.

Question: why are we attempting to avoid spoilers here? I mean, I understand why, but since is a) not a project related to JB, and b) one of the stupidest "ideas" to come out of Marvel yet, I'm thinking we should talk about it more freely, in a more meaningful way.
Maybe a spoiler alert in the title of the thread?
