I'm not sure I can cover what the whole line would be, but here are a few books with creators that set the tone I would be looking for at Marvel. Avengers- Roger Stern/Andy Kubert (I love his art and I think it would be amazing to see him on Avengers). Daredevil- Gail Simone/Cliff Chiang- Simone can write darker material, and have some fun, which would make Daredevil a great book to read. Fantastic Four- John Byrne/Romita Jr- Kind of wish fulfillment. Doctor Strange- John Byrne- I'm not sure John would even want to do this character, but I think he should get to work on a Marvel mainstay that he hasn't really had the chance to yet. Uncanny X-Men- Brian K Vaughn/Ivan Reis- One team, regular size cast please! New Mutants- Jeff Lemire/Amy Reeder- Some of that quirky New Mutants stuff we used to see, but with Reeder's fresh art. Iron Man- Ron Marz/Tony Daniel Amazing Spider-Man- Sterling Gates/Dale Keown- I think it would be fun to see his art on Spider-Man, and Gates was excellent on Supergirl with the super and the soap opera. Thor- Alan Davis Captain America- Mike W. Barr/Rags Morales- I'm interested to see what both of them would do with the book. I tried to place Nicola Scott but I couldn't find the right book for her on my list. Yet. I'll be thinking of this all night!

Thanks for the fun idea, Stephen. I think the most important thing for me is to keep the line tight, with the talent concentrated on a small line of books...no duplicate titles, and no solo titles for characters appearing in team books.
Avengers: Roger Stern, Alan Davis X-Men: Louise Simonson, Walt Simonson Fantastic Four: John Byrne Silver Surfer: John Byrne, Barry Windsor-Smith Spider-man: Roger Stern, Peter Snejbjerg Daredevil: Matt Wagner Doctor Strange: Mike Mignola, Guy Davis

I notice that everyone has kept there number of titles low. I think it's a case where less is more. I know it's hard for Marvel to stop the expansion train now but cast I checked, they were pushing some 80 plus titles as part of the Marvel Universe. I get the distinct impression that most everyone would like to read the whole line. Today it's just impossible. You'd have to be well off (@ $320+ a month) and very single.

I think my "less is more" approach comes from thinking of how I, and I suspect many kids, ventured into the Marvel universe. I started with Spider-Man because i knew him from cartoons. I "met" the Avengers because they made a small appearance in a Spider-Man issue which made me notice their own title and Captain America's title. Somewhere along the line I began to recognize JB's art which made me follow him to different titles. If I was running marvel, I'd want to make certain that nobody felt they had to buy more titles than they could afford. No crossovers, no multiple titles per character, etc. We don't need Spider-Man spread out over six titles. We need the best stories that can be told in one book.

I think that you should start out with about 3 to 4 titles and about a title a month at the 6 month period. The original Marvel Universe wasn't built in a day so get your reader's attention and build a market then expand IMO.

That could work. I think the fewer the better up to a point. I'm really big on the idea that the older (18-25) collector should be able to afford the entire line. But that for my line. You guys are in charge of yours.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR, Alan Davis/ Paul Neary (inks) (should have happened long, long ago.)
DAREDEVIL, Mark Waid/ Tonci Jonjic (no matter what Waid has done, his DD is exceptionally excellent, and Jonjic is pure stud material.)
THE AVENGERS, Roger Stern/ George Perez/ Butch Guice (inks) (I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't think there needs to be individual Iron Man or Thor comics. Any of those stories can be told just as effectively in the Avengers context, and probably should be. And anyway, Iron Man and Thor will guest in other comics throughout the line.)
LEGION OF MONSTERS starring The Zombie, Man-Wolf, Drac, and the Glob (among others.) I'll write it/ Lee Weeks
THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, Roger Langridge/ Mike Allred
THE INCREDIBLE HULK, Tom DeFalco/ Ron Frenz/ Sal Buscema (inks)
MARVEL TEAM-UP starring Captain America, John Byrne/ Terry Austin (inks)
MARVEL TWO-IN-ONE starring the Thing, Roger Stern/ Gabriel Hardman (yeah, I know JB has said "any Thing story is an FF story." That's true, if we're talking about Ben Grimm. But what if there was another Thing in the Marvel U? Not She-Thing, but someone else? And also, he'd be "dinosaur-hide" Thing, original Kirby, as God intended.
NICK FURY: AGENT OF SHIELD, Darwyn Cooke/ J. Bone (inks)(has to be done in the 1950s-1960s, natch. Also incorporate the "original" Avengers, known as Atlas, with a back-up feature written by Jeff Parker, art by Butch Guice.)

Chad I really like your LEGION OF MONSTERS idea, I had totally forgotten about them. I think I'd have to go with a different creative team. What do you think about Steve Englehart/ Ed McGuinness?
I also think your NICK FURY: AGENT OF SHIELD book is a better idea than mine.

First, without fanfare or anything, the line just starts up with storylines and characters that have only existed up to 1987 or so. The last 25 years can just be ignored. Fantastic Four - JB: with the Thing back in the line-up. I'd miss She-Hulk, but, not really, because... The Mighty Avengers - JB. Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, She-Hulk. Sometimes, the Hulk. This can be a very Cap and IM centered book, so they won't need solo books. See also Marvel Presents. The Incredible Hulk - Roger Stern, Sal Buscema. The Hulk, by the way, is the "Hulk Smash!" variety. He hates talking, loves beans and animals. He doesn't much bleed or turn gray or say, "ain't".The Amazing Spider-Man - Chris Claremont, John Romita, JR.: No more with the clones, wives, predecessors and phonies. Peter Parker, the Singular Spider-Man, with mechanical web-shooters and a still-secret identity. The Mighty Thor - Walt Simonson The Uncanny X-Men - Chris Claremont, Alan Smith: Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Colossus and Kitty. This is the only title Wolverine appears in regularly. Absolutely no Phoenix, Dark Phoenix, or Faux-nix stories. Move on. Marvel Presents: talent rotates. Solo, team-up, and group stories, one-shots or multi-issue. Captain America, Iron Man, Power Man and Iron Fist, Daredevil, The Defenders (Dr. Strange + rotaters, Sub-Mariner, Hulk, Silver Surfer, Valkrie, Nighthawk, maybe also PM and IF, Daredevil, etc), Crossovers and team-ups are fine, but they don't need to be "events" (any more than the original "Defenders/Avengers war" was).We would have to have Hulk vs. Thing by JB. All splash-page. Possibly "Treasury" size. Perez can fill-in on Avengers while it's worked on.
