Don't you know, stubble is short hand for bad ass. At the time they were trying to make BK come across as more of a tough guy. Tough guys don't care bout shaving.

Better that than shaving with that lightsaber he's holding in that cover - that's just asking for trouble... (wince!)

That Avengers cover was one of my favorites, when I was a kid.
Actually, it still is...!

The Black Knight would never trade in his blade!

That's awful! The Black Knight has one of my favorite Marvel costumes (now that I think about it, though it probably wouldn't occur to me if asked since he's far from a constantly used character) and to befoul it with that stupid jacket is a crime!

And with the recent announcement regarding Wolverine in today's issue - I'm off. Just rediculous.

Was there ever a story about what happened to the Avengers bomber jackets when they finally stopped wearing them? Gosh I hope so!

Hercules looks like Willem DeFoe on that cover.

That's not the first time the Son of Zeus has shed his whiskers. He also scraped off his facial foliage in the Sixties, specifically in AVENGERS 46.

Seems like a lot of the coloring is a bit off on that cover.  The blues all look purple.  I wonder if the ants were supposed to be brown? Maybe the scan of that particular cover was just off.

A Googling I go.
