The dudes at Project Rooftop have dug out the Alex Ross redesigns that were not taken for the X-Men in the early 2000's. Ross' sketches contain some mentions of the Havok costume effect.

For a second I thought "but he never got around to that storyline --
Age of Ultron", and the future storyline came out of Avengers Next,
but then I remembered Janet-Ultron. Not the best Ultron story, true.

Alex Ross, indeed, was trained and worked in advertising and storyboarding before getting into comics.

I think Ross is a pretty terrific artist, but those costumes are pretty terrific-ally bland.

but then I remembered Janet-Ultron. Not the best Ultron story, true. *** I sometimes joke about that being the origin of Tony Stark's "Please tell me nobody kissed me!" line in THE AVENGERS movie.
