OK, after I read the article I screamed. When your Chief Creative
Officer makes the comment that the design was a bitch to draw and
you plan for your stable of artists to change the design as they see fit,
YOU HAVE A BAD DESIGN. I don't even understand this. How do
you ok this design if artists that have to draw it, want to change it?I
honestly can't imagine being able to recreate that for a monthly and
being able to stay on deadline, and it seems like other artists have
come to the same conclusion.

It strikes me as one of the paradoxes of modern comics, that they keep changing the "product" in a time when everything is about marketing and branding. Either by using multiple versions of the same character or changing the costumes every other week.

And I understand why the design was a bitch to draw - the original design was by Jack Kirby. Hence it cannot be improved upon.

If I described Cap's togs as honeycombed armour, gauntlets,
combat boots, baggy pants, plates and pouches, how many of
you would have laughed your asses off at me just a few
short years ago?

(Groans.)

What was so damned hard about Jack Kirby's design for Captain America, anyway?  This looks like even more of a bitch to draw!

   Kids these days.

Remember when Marvel used to make fun of DC? Now they trip over themselves to copy their mistakes.
