A while ago ago a friend told me that present Scott is really cool, and written and drawn how he was "supposed to be". Haven't read any new x-stories since 2006, but I strongly doubt this to be accurate.

Don't know myself as I haven't read the X-books in a very long time, but Cyclops was (is?) the leader of the "Black Ops" X-Men group that included the White Queen and Wolverine with a mission to use lethal force to deal with threats against mutants.  Doesn't sound like the Scott Summers that I know.

Oh, it gets better than that.

I work at a comic-shop. I try to sway people to books of a better merit at times, but X-Men sells. It has it's fans, and being in said buisness, I at least have cursory knowledge of storylines.

So, here's where the X-Men are at, from what I can gauge.

There are two X-Men camps in the books. One half of the books are "pro-Cyclops" teams, and one half are "pro-Wolverine" teams.

1)Cyclops is running a team that has Magneto as a member, and has a "pre-emptive" stance to threats against mutant-kind. Cyclops is also written as being a hot-head.

2)Wolverine now runs the school. As headmaster. Also, he's level headed, and believes in Xavier's dream.

Wow.  Talk about "through the looking glass".  That sounds so horrible.

Cyclops transformed by the Phoenix force... I used that idea for a drawing I sent to a sort of fan art contest in the Spanish version of What If...? 25 years ago!

Sometimes it seems like a competition, doesn't it? Like back in the day, when DC artists tried to outmatch each other when it came to the length of Batman's cape. Now it seems writers are trying to "best" each other on who can write the X-Men MOST off-model.

I had the same reaction to Wolverine as Headmaster of Xaviers the same way I regarded when the Fonz came back from Greece, sporting a beard and teaching auto mechanics at a school on Happy Days.....it just ain't right.

It aint just Cyclops

Avengers vs. X-Men is such a waste with the artistic powerhouses they've got working on it.
