A few years ago, I picked up a collection of Supreme based on all the praise it was given. I never finished it. It was so boring to me yet a friend called it Alan Moore's "apology" for Watchmen.

Having a major online argument with an acquaintance about the Watchmen prequel/Moore debacle. After I commented that I don't see people raving about creators ruining the work of Stan Lee on the Fantastic Four and he basically tried to tell me that Stan is a business guy, he's not worried about it, unlike Moore who's a profound artist and afree spirit. What???
After counting to 10, I pointed out that maybe many classic comic book creators had a huge creative output not because they wanted to impress people and have their names stamped all over the place, but because they also had bills to pay.
Nowadays it's all about having a hit gimmicky series and selling the rights for a movie.
And why Moore has to keep complaining? Can't he understand that he's possibly boosting sales by creating controversy?
Matter of fact, would he be famous as he is now without his work for DC?

I also said I knew all too well that if this happened it would not take long for "Fun" to degenerate into "goofy", as "relevant" spawned "grim and gritty" which became "glum".
Too many writers today simply can't do "fun" comics without being condescending. To the material, AND to the readers.

How many monthly, ongoing superhero comics are truly "all ages" fare?
There's MUDMAN. (I know there have been some deaths and sharp blades,
but...)

I'd throw Young Justice in there. Of course, I find it funny that one of the better DC comics is based on a cartoon based on their comic characters.
