By the way, what an awesome commission! The grey tones give it a different feel.

WOW John!! That is some really good work, those tones are great. Now I am going to go and rip up my Spider-man submissions pages, because I really suck after seeing this. ;-)

I really, really wish this commission was actually a page of a comic book. I miss being able to read Spider-Man every month.

I keep looking at this one and wonder what it looked like hour by hour as it was being worked on. Doing the background in tones is wild.

That's a good question!

JB,

Would you mind scanning the layers next time you do one of these? I'd love to see the steps!

Wow! Spider-Man has never looked better! This commish is gorgeous! I love the light-mid grey backgrounds with the darker greys all on SM. It's great how you went to black very subtley and minimally on the figure with *almost no background blacks or blacks in the top panels. It really makes Spider-Man jump! Wow! Wow! Wow!

*edit

I would love to see more of your books with the tones like this! To me this looks even better than Angel, Star trek, OMAC, or any of the others you have done with tones. And those all look awesome!

I really enjoy the panel page commissions. I wonder if we'll start to see a trend of these popping up more.
