I've always liked the "half mask" effect when Peter Parker's Spidey Sense goes off. Excellent commission!
"It is?" The editor huffed and puffed for a bit, then said "All right, look. You stop doing it for now, and we'll do a story in which he puts it back!"
So much that's wrong with comics today can be traced to this kind of thinking.

In my mind I often associate artist with certain characters, and I have something admit -- I don't think of you as a Spider-Man artist (and I know a lot of people here do). FF, yes, Avengers, yes, Superman, She-Hulk, all a big check.
But for some reason I've managed to miss most of the work you've done on Spider-Man and don't feel a huge affinity for your version of Spider-Man -- my problem, not yours. I just have other artists like the Romitas and Ditko who are the guys I consider to be my Spider-Man artists.
But, that all said, this is a brilliant commission. Love the shapes of the panels, the jittery sense of excitement, the masterful hands and, as always, the tones look awesome. Would love to read a Spider-Man book that looked like this all the way through. Great job!

Love this one. I like that the greytones are light enough so that we can see all the masterful line work. You're right on up there with Ditko and the Romitas when it comes to great Spider-Man artists.
A belated thanks for bringing in John Romita Sr. to ink that Amazing Spider-Man #18 issue... featuring the Green Goblin what a treat!! Here's a link for those who want to see how great the Byrne/Romita combo was:
Ah... GREATNESS!!!

A belated thanks for bringing in John Romita Sr. to ink that Amazing Spider-Man #18 issue...•• If only he had! Unfortunately, much of that issue was inked by Al Milgrom. And since I had Al inking CHAPTER ONE and LOST GENERATION, I think you all know I have no problem with his work. It's just, when I ask for John Romita, I sorta kinda want to GET John Romita.

That's a surprise! To my eyes I see a lot of Romita in there... particularly the page I linked to. A rose by any other name is still a rose, so thanks for bringing in Mr. Milgrom to ink that issue.

There are many commissions you do that I really enjoy or I feel are fantastic, but, as far as I'm concerned, this one is quite possibly the best commission you've ever done. There is a lot of energy in that piece and the grey tones make it really pop. Now I want to see the next page to see what or who set off his "spidey-sense"!

That Green Goblin is amazingly close to Ross Andru -first time I see that image in b&w-. Looks awesome!

I have to agree with Kevin that this is the best JB commission I've ever seen. The starts aligned and the heavens parted for this one.
