That really is fantastic.  I'm never disappointed by your work with gray tones.  Whether done with pencil (Blood and Trenches) or the inks you've done in some of these commissions, it really shows a painterly skill on your part.  This is superb.

When I started drawing Spider-Man for Marvel, I naturally included the underarm webbing, as Ditko had. I got a call, tho, from one of the editors, telling me to stop, that the webbing had not been part of the costume for YEARS.

Was there an actual edict to the effect of "no underarm webbing"? I've often wondered.

Beautiful commission! You just keep getting better! As much as I like your
ink work its so much more to have the tone done as well. I would love to
see a whole issue done in this format.(Angel was all pencils and OMAC was
zip tone, right?) Do you have a preference for this style?

Where's the signature? Am I missing it...?
**

Oops! Got so hung up on the tones, forgot to sign it. Forgot the copyright notice, too! Thanks for the catch, Joe!

Perhaps, since the commsiion appears to be more of a page from a comic book, you were in this frame of mind and the signature was not an "element" of this.  Either way I love the tones and perspective!

"It is?" The editor huffed and puffed for a bit, then said "All right, look. You stop doing it for now, and we'll do a story in which he puts it back!"

Sadly it's a medium where many of the fans are so anal these sort of things have to be explained -

Of course this lead to House of Secret Dark Disassembled Siege Planet Island Civil War, where the Skrulls tricked the Scarlet Witch into shooting Spider-Man off to the moon by giving everyone spider-powers and he temporarily lost his webbing when a cloned version of Thor........ ah, forget it.

Little late to the party but I'm ecstatic.  This is my commission.  The anticipation has been building but has been well worth it.  I am blown away.  JB has once again exceeded my expectations.  Love the energy and flow of the panels into the main picture.  I am a huge fan of the tones.  Adds so much to the piece.  Thanks to JB and to Jim for making my ideas concrete. Astounding piece of art....
