Well, at least he's not dressed like Alan Scott!

Regarding the fan speculation about the women on Wonder Woman's island...um, didn't Marston for all intents and purposes SAY IT in the original comics?

I can imagine the general public greeting this news with comments like "Green Lantern is GAY!?", followed by a high level of disinterest when they learn that it's a Green Lantern who hasn't had his own comic book since the 1940s.

If this is what finally gets Alan Scott his own monthly title, I'll be happy. Long time GA GL fan. Have always wanted him to have a monthly book outside of JSA. Gay, straight as long as he is fighting villians I'm good. Don't get me wrong, it is a blatant stunt on DC's end and not a real attempt at diversity. But I love me some Alan Scott!

Based on what we've seen thus far, it is likely to be Alan Scott in name only and, if so, not the character that you've been longing to see in his own book.

I still find this an odd choice. Far too much hetero-history on the character to make this feel right. Feels like they just drew a name out of a hat.
But, as Fred said, it's likely he'll barely resemble the fairly stoic and dignified character he's always been. And, as subtlety in comics is dead, I image that not only will he be out, he will be Fab-U-Lous!

Not surprising actually. A man who wears a red shirt with puffy sleeves, a purple cape, green leotards, and red boots with yellow straps? If that's not gay, I do not know what is! ;-)

It's like when Spider-Man became black!
"Spider-Man's black?"
"Well, not the REAL one, the Ultimate Universe one. It's like an alternate reality of the real Marvel Universe."
"Oh."
Except, of course, now the conversation goes ...
"Green Lantern is gay?"
"Well, not the real one. They rebooted the one from the 1940s in an alternate reality called Earth-2 and made him gay. The real one from the movie, Hal Jordan, is still totally straight."
"Oh."
